Bite the Bullet 1975, dir. Richard Brooks. In the tradition of great, cynical 1970's Westerns is this fantastic, rough-cut gem. Look at this cast. LOOK AT THEM! Gene Hackman, Candace Bergen, Jan Michael Vincent, James Coburn and Dabney Coleman. It's the story of an overland endurance horse race, and the beautiful photography of the land and the horses is spectacular. The movie is set in the later days of the Old West, and the contrast between modern cynicism and old cowboy idealism is delicious.
